Waterlooville Supports Philippines Shelter Box Appeal

The contents of a Shelter Box avail to view in WaterloovilleIn the aftermath of the terrible devastation caused by the typhoon in the Philippines, Rotary Shelter Boxes have been dispatched to bring shelter, a cooker with cooking utensils, water purification kits plus other essentials required for survival to the stricken area.

In order to do this swiftly, the Shelter Boxes are stored ready to go at a moment’s notice and subsequently are replaced ready for the next emergency, or to continue supplying much needed aid as required.

Recently, the Rotary Club of Waterlooville, as with many other Rotary Clubs around the country, have been collecting money to buy more shelter boxes.  In The centre of Waterlooville in Hampshire, the contents of a shelter box was displayed in order to encourage local people to donate towards these essential kits.

Each box currently costs £590 to purchase and already Waterlooville Rotary has sent TWO boxes with another on the way thanks to the generosity of local people who gave on the day.

Many thanks to them for helping us.  This is Rotary in action both at home and abroad. Please support us whenever you see our members out collecting.  Every little helps towards the bigger picture.

Watch out for Santa and his sleigh over the Christmas period as we collect around the streets and outside ASDA in Waterlooville.
