Charity Golf Day 18th May

Thursday 18th May is our annual Charity Golf Day being held once again at Southwick Park Golf Club.

Welcome to our annual Rotary Charity Golf Day. This event is enjoyed year after year by so many of you, and this year I am delighted to say that once again we have a ‘full house’, which I hope demonstrates your enjoyment of the event and the worthwhile causes we support through your generosity.

For the second year since its inauguration we will be playing for the Joss Cleeve Memorial Trophy, in memory of a great man who supported this event for many years and was well known to a good number of you for many reasons; family, friends, colleagues and of course the Waterlooville Rotary Club, which Joss supported and influenced for so many years in his inimitable fashion. The trophy will be presented to the winners of this afternoon’s Stableford four-ball team.

As you know 100% of all our proceeds go to charity. This year we will be dividing the profits equally between the New Blendworth Centre and local causes.

The New Blendworth Centre is a local registered charity, based in Horndean, which provides day provision for post-19 year old people with varying degrees of learning difficulties/disabilities. It is a garden centre which offers work orientated placement, encouraging friendships, raising self-esteem and promoting confidence and independence. I’m sure you will agree, especially if you were to see them in action, it is a tremendously worthwhile cause.

The local causes we have supported and continue to support provide much needed help with such things as local children’s projects, respite centres, holidays for families in need and other such deserving causes.

So I hope you have an amazing day, knowing that at the same time 100% of all proceeds will be going to deserving causes. Thank you to all our sponsors and people who have donated prizes. Thank you to all you players who have helped us to make it a continuing success and above all, a fun event.

See you all again this time next year!
