Charity Golf Day

What a great response we have had from sponsors and teams for our Charity Golf Day on Thursday 18th May 2017 at Southwick Park Golf Club in sunny Hampshire (alright it did rain in the afternoon, but hey, golfers don’t care about that!)
We are so very grateful to our sponsors for helping us make the day such a success in raising £5000 for our charities.

All our profits go to deserving charities and our Golf Day celebrates the life of local farmer and Rotarian Joss Cleeve who sadly passed away in 2016 after a long struggle with cancer.
In his memory we have set up the Joss Cleeve Trophy which the teams play for on the day.

Our main beneficiary this year is the New Blendworth Centre in Horndean, a day centre which is also a garden centre and provides employment for special needs adults.
We would like to share some photographs of the day with you.

If you would like to join us on the next Charity Golf Day in May 2018 or sponsor the event or a hole, then please contact us. We would love to hear from you!

See you next year, Golfers!

Next year’s event is planned to be held on the 17th May 2018. In the morning there is a 9 Hole Texas Scramble and in the Afternoon an 18 hole Stableford. First tee-offs start at 9:00 am. More information about the rules for the 9 hole texas scramble can be found by HERE and the 18 hole Stableford HERE.

We are also looking at a reduced day for those who do not fancy 27 holes! Let us know what you would like to do!

In the evening following the golf, there is a dinner where the teams share the highs and lows (hopefully not too many of the latter!) The dinner is sometimes followed by a speaker/comedian and the usual presentation of golf and raffle prizes. All this is included in the price of joining us for great golf. If you would like to join us you can download an entry form >Golf-Team_details_2018
SPONSOR SHIP - If you would like to help us in raising funds for the charities being supported by this event why not sponsor a hole or even the event! We will ensure that your sponsorship will be displayed on this website together with your logos and contact details.  To see those who sponsored this event previously click HERE.

You can download an example of the programme style which includes a map of the Southwick Park Golf Club course for the day HERE.

If you join us  you will actually see Rotary in action through our support of Canine Partners and other local and international charities.

Rotary – who are we? Quite simply just ordinary men and women in business and professions or now retired who wish to help our local and international communities. This is achieved by using our skills and experience to make a difference to the the lives of others. Hence the Rotary motto – SERVICE ABOVE SELF.

Rotary was founded on fellowship, an ideal that remains a major attraction today. It is fellowship that builds friendships which in turn makes our meetings and social events so much fun.

The Rotary Club of Waterlooville presently has 22 members. To run the club we have several committees and briefly these are:

Community Service - who seek opportunities and respond to requests for financial help from local sources, e.g. Home-Start Havant.

International – who seek opportunities to fund deserving causes overseas, e.g. Mercy Ships, End Polio Now campaign etc.

Young Generation - who seek opportunities to fund, encourage and support our youth, e.g. Young Chef, Young Speaker competitions.

However, none of this can work unless we enjoy Rotary and gain satisfaction from putting something back into the community. If that sounds like something that you would like to consider, as Club President I would love to welcome you as a visitor to learn more. We meet at the Denvilles House, 33 Emsworth Road, Havant on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm.
